OUT WEST MAGAZINE.

Chuck Woodbury is the chief architect of travel in the West. Ten years ago he began his quarterly magazine Out West. He has just come out with the 10th anniversary issue and it is a keeper! It would be worth everyone having a copy. So, if your newstand doesn't have one, you might check out Chuck's site and order one. No one finds the "quirky things out west" as well as Chuck. Thanks for the 10 beautiful years Chuck!

TREKKING TO EVEREST CD-ROM .

One of the delights of this business is receiving CD Roms, travel books, and free tickets to nowhere. ExcessByte Consultancy Ltd. has done a beautiful job with this Trekking to Everest - An interactive journey through the Nepal Himalaya.

After spending the last years hearing of the futilities of some of the Everest Journeys, this wonderfully done CD-ROM was a delight to look at. I have heard so much about Katmandu through the years. It always tips the scale when anyone is going to Everest. The religious history of this city, for Hindus and Buddist, rivals Jerusaleum as the religious capital of the world.

One feels after going through this CD that one has made the journey. Certainly if one is going on such a trip, this CD ROM would be worth buying. Check it out at the Trekking Website.

VISITING JORDAN .

Raad Aghabi, webmaster of the Jordan site, gives many reasons to visit this ancient country. He writes, "Jordan has been described as the crossroads of the Middle East. Jordan is a friendly, vibrant country, which has an extraordinary range of unique natural, historic, recreational and ecological areas, and religious sites of significant interest to tourists from around the world. The capital city of Amman is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities with homes and towers dating back to 7000 B.C."

He rounds out his cyberjourney inviting us to visit the "lost city of Petra, Roman ruins at Jerash, and Madaba mosaics crafted during the Byzantine era." There is much more to visit here. Thanks Raad for the invite.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

"Exile, like memory, may be a place of
hope and delusion. But there are rules
of light there and principles of darkness....
The expatriate is in search of a country,
the exile in search of a self."

ANOTHER TRAVEL WRITER WHO WILL NOT BORE YOU !!!!!

Edward Abbey

"I am taken by the primeval charm and fascination of the simple mysteries: fire, building in mud, rain, sunlight, the smell of greasewood and live oak after a cloudburst, the luxury of a sleeping hound." Edward Abbey - Confessions of a Barbarian (p.125)
